After 8 years of bowling-free time, I decided to bowl again. And the result was BAD!!! :D So, I decided I should start playing again. :) Promise I will!!!
Afterward, I went to the city to take some crazy but cool pictures at the Volksgarten Park. Here are some of them...
I like this pic... only my bag there spoils the whole beauty of it!!!
If u look carefully, the presidencial palace can be seen in the background... it looks like a haunted villa. -rv-

Leonardo da Vinci's The Last Supper
Right, who doesn't know this painting? It's the famous scene of The Last Supper of Jesus and his disciples. This masterpiece of Leonardo da Vinci was painted in oil on the walls of the Dominican convent of Sta Maria delle Grazie. It took da Vinci four years to complete this work (1495-1498). The original piece has been vandalized and nearly fell apart. However, there has been a 20-year effort to stabilize the work for future viewing. I personally only related da Vinci to Mona Lisa and Madonna of The Rocks. That was of course until recently, before I read The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown, where I learnt shocking facts about Da Vinci and his works, not to mention the history itself. Now that I've read the book, it seems that I can only concentrate on da Vinci. So, what's so shocking about this painting? It's just a scene of The Last Supper, of which we all know - just like described in the Bible. Well, let's have a closer look, shall we? Now, we all know that Jesus passed around one large cup for his disciples to drink from - this cup is also known as the Chalice or the Holy Grail. So technically, there should be only one cup on the table. Well, what are the 12 wine glasses on the table in this work doing then? In The Da Vinci Code, Dan Brown suggests that the Chalice referred wasn't actual. Meaning, there really was no Chalice. It was meant symbolically - or a metaphor for a pregnant woman. Hmmm... Why would a pregnant woman be mentioned at all here? Wasn't it said that there were Jesus and his 12 disciples who attended The Last Supper? So, it should simply mean that there were 13 important boys eating at one big table in the history of the christian religion. And that's exactly what da Vinci painted, isn't it? 13 men. Haha, take a closer look people! There are actually 12 men, including Jesus and one, yes one, woman! Can't find her? She's sitting on Jesus' right, with her hand clasped on the table, the one with flowing red hair. So, who is this woman? Historians believe she's Mary Magdalene. There are many accounts that say Jesus and Mary Magdalene were very close. Just how close were they? Notice that in this painting, Jesus' and Magdalene's clothes are the mirror image of the other. Jesus is wearing a red robe and blue cloak while Magdalene is wearing a blue robe and red cloak. Yin Yang. And if you look carefully at how Jesus and Magdalene are positioned, you will see clearly a letter from the alphabet. Here's a quote from the Gospel of Phillip: And the companion of [the Savior is] Mary Magdalene. The [Savior] loved her more than all his disciples, and frequently kissed her on the mouth. The rest of [the disciples] [got close to her to ask]. They told him: "Why do you love her more than all of us?" The Savior responded and said: "Why do I not love you as I love her?" (Gospel of Philip 63-64). Apparently the rest of the disciples got jealous. Or let's say, Peter was jealous that Jesus trusted Magdalene and loved her so much. You can see Peter here. He's the one Magdalene appears to be talking to, the one with white hair and blue robes. Only take a close look at this: his left-hand gesture. It appears that Peter is making a cutting gesture at Magdalene's throat with his left-hand. The same exact gesture made by the angel Uriel which can be seen on the Madonna of The Rocks painting. Now, in those days companion literally meant spouse. So, were Jesus and Magdalene married? And more frighteningly, was Magdalene pregnant at this time? Why do I say pregnant? Well, because the Holy Grail has a legend. A legend about royal blood. the word Holy Grail came from the ancient word Sang Real which literally translates royal blood. When the Grail legend speaks of "the chalice that held the blood of Christ" it speaks, in fact, of Mary Magdalene - the female womb that carried Jesus's royal bloodline. It was known that Jesus was a descendant of King Salomon and Magdalene a descendant of the powerful Benjamin's tribe. If Magdalene was pregnant, isn't it possible that Jesus' bloodline still lives on this earth at this very moment? That's one thought I still cannot brush aside. Imagine, a direct descendant of Jesus Christ... Lord, help us! -rv-

Spider-Man 2

Like I wrote on my previous posting, I went to watch Spider-Man 2. And what do I have to say about it? TWO THUMBS-UP!!! If possible four (pake jempol kaki! hehe). I really really really like the film. The fabolous acting, the carefully written plot, the complications and of course the romance all blend into one great box office movie. I won't be surprised if Spider-Man 2 will be nominated as the best film at the next Oscar. Point in fact, I'd be outraged if it wasn't nominated! :)
Now, why do I like this movie so much? (That I'm actually willing to go see it one more time...) It really isn't like other action movies, or in this case, other comic-based movies, where they only show the effects and the bomb-blowings and the rapid chasings. Spider-Man 2 has just the right amount of action with a touch of human feelings and affections.
You do feel Peter Parker's (Tobey Maguire) dilemma about being a super-hero, swinging all over New York City trying to make the world a better place to live in and at the same time trying to get into his classes, doing something about his love for Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst) and maintaining his feeble friendship with his bestfriend Harry Osborn (James Franco). And the great thing about it is: You suffer with Peter Parker. You actually feel it.

Look at the expression on Peter Parker's face as he decides to let M.J go... I won't say more so that those of you who haven't watched it can go figure urselves! Hehe.

This is my favourite scene. The complications really reached its peak in this scene. Where two bestfriends have to choose their own different ways and realize that their friendship is at stake.
Being a superhero isn't all about rescuing other people and being famous... This movie shows the insides of a superhero. So, what are you waiting for? Go get your tickets!!!!

My Weekend
Nje nje... It's Sunday already. Cepet banget, sih... Kayanya gue blom ngapa2in, taunya besok udah kerja lagi... cuih! :D
Anyways, wanna what I did this weekend? Read on, guys, read on!
I thought of doing my overtime till late-night on Friday, finishing the work that had to be done on Monday. Hehe, biar hari Seninnya masih bisa agak2 tenang2 dikit. Besides there was the latihan band Korpri. But then Mas Andhika came to my office and the following conversation took place:
M. Andhika: "Mo ikut nggak, Rep?" (Aduh, nama gue bagus2, jadi Rep...) Me: "Kemana?" M. Andhika: "Palmenhaus. Odo berangkat besok." Me: "Oh... ummm, jam berapa?" M. Andhika: "Sekarang." Me: "Hah? Sekarang? Loe nggak latihan? Pa' Dubes called me the other day and told me to latihan..." M. Andhika: "Iya, gue juga sih... Hehe" Me: "Hehe... cuek nih?" M. Andhika: "Iyeh... cuek..."
So I cleared my desk and went out of the office toward Mas Andhika's car where Mba Dewi was already waiting. Yayyy... it's gonna be fun! We went to eat at a Jap's resto, where Odo and Made joined us. Then we went for an ice-cream and straight to Palmenhaus. We shared a cheese plate (yum!!!) and a bottle of delicious white wine. It was definitely a nice Friday night. Easy and fun.
Saturday was shopping day at Donauzentrum (the biggest mall in Vienna) - again with Mas Andhika and Mba Dewi. Only this time accompanied by kebo2nya (baca: anak2nya) hihi. Mba Dewi and I were after this big Asian Wok on special offer in Interspar (a supermarket) but I think we came a bit too late cuz the supply was already finished. Yah, penonton kecewa deh.
When we were at the electronic section, where all the TVs were on display, the program was showing the funeral of Austrian president Thomas Klestil. He had a heart attack last weekend and passed away last Tuesday night. There were a lot of politicians, important people as well as public figures from all over the world attending the funeral. Arnold Schwarzenegger was there, as well as Wladimir Putin. Of course, Dubes Samodra Sriwidjaja was there as well with none the less our very own Mas Taufik behind him. When we saw them on TV we were laughing and cheering (jadi kaya nonton bola). I called Mas Taufik to tell him we saw him on TV and he did this very stupid thing: He grinned, serius! cengar cengir, right in front of Klestil's coffin!!! Jiahahahaha... Kita semua yang ketawa ketawa ngakak gitu ngeliatnya... Kelakuan!!! Then after they threw the last flower of respect on Klestil's coffin, Mas Andhika called Pak Samodra and said: "Pak, masuk TV nih ye!!!" Geblek! Hehehehehe
Then we went to Mas Andhika's and Mba Dewi's place to anter anak2nya pulang. And we went to the cinema to watch Spider-Man 2 with Tante Rini and Mas Taufik. We were making fun of Mas Taufik the whole time cuz he was on TV just a couple of hours before.
Well all in all... It was a very nice weekend. Hope you had a nice weekend too!

Semalam Penuh Makna Bersama Odo
The place: Vienna City. The time: Friday night, July 2nd, 2004. The mission: Dugem semaleman dan ngerjain orang.
Mr. Odo Manuhutu a.k.a. Diplomat Gila dan Cuek (during his posting here) is back. He touched down in Vienna last Monday together with Ms. Dewi Fortuna Anwar, also to attend the sidang. For some people, Odo's presence simply brings back the memories they ever had with him... And for others, like the crazy ones - count me in, means D U G E M. And he proved us all right last night, he still remembers all the ways in Vienna and clubs... Good one, Do!
Ok, we went out last night. Reason number one, it was Friday night. Reason number two, Cindy was scheduled to fly home to Indonesia on an early Saturday morning flight for holidays until September, and she simply wanted to stay up the whole night so she could collapse on the flight back to Indonesia. My route started at Mas Andhika's and Mba Dewi's place, playing and getting chased around by their children (Mba Dew... serius, kalo butuh babysitter! hehe) Then we went to eat at Saigon while waiting for Odo to finish with his opera business *rolls eyes* After Saigon, we went back to the office to meet Cindy and pick Mas Taufik up.
Since Cindy had to pick up some titipan at Mas Taufik's place, we picked up Odo and went to Mas Taufik's place while Mas Taufik finished his 'homework'. Before I continue this story, I should mention that there are 2 junior diplomats on internship staying at Mas Taufik's place, and they intended to turn in early since they had to wake up early to go to Salzburg the next day. And here, Odo's cheeky nature was unleashed. Ngebangunin orang aja nggak cukup... He still had to do something else i.e. piling up the suitcases and leaning them on their bedroom-door in such a way, that when they opened it, the suitcases would fall all over them!
And off to Town. We went to a bar, had some drink, talked a lot, laughed a lot more. However, it got a bit boring when Odo was showing first signs of sleepiness. But something else happened that helped him wake up. Mas Taufik fell asleep first. So, again... cheeky nature. One by one we left the bar, quietly so that Mas Taufik wouldn't wake up. And miraculously, it worked! We left him in the bar!!! We all hid in Mas Andhika's car, but since Mas Taufik didn't come with Mas Andhika's car, he had no idea where to look for us. We saw him run out of the bar, obviously panicked, cell phone in his hand. He was calling us, but we didn't pick up. Instead we were just laughing our heads off. And then we saw him hail a cab and drive away. After about 5 minutes, Odo picked up his phone and called. "Loe kok pergi sih, Fik?" And we all burst out laughing.
Then we went for a snack next to the Opera House, and then Odo said, "Kita kerumahnya Taufik lagi yuk? Kalo ngerjain orang tuh nggak boleh setengah2 lagi. Kita bangunin dia, yah?" So, u can guess what happened, right? We went to Mas Taufik's place again... And what did we see there? All the suitcases were not there where we left them, which could only mean one thing: they have opened the door!!!! Jiahahahahaha....
Pokonya kalo jalan ama Odo, pasti ada keanehan2 dan kejahilan2 yg nggak mungkin terlewatkan deh! :D

FVCK U, NARKOBA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just received an e-mail from a good friend of mine in Jakarta... A very sad e-mail. He basically only updated me with things that are going on in Jakarta. But most of the things are sad things... And all because of stupid narkoba!
He told me that another good friend was caught while buying the stuff and another one died from it. I HATE THE STUFF!!!!! It keeps taking my friends away from me. So far, I have lost 4 friends because of putauw - and loads others caught while purchasing. Everytime I get the news, I ask myself... "Why? Why is it happening? Why is it happening to my friends, the ones I hold so dear? Why is it happening to Indonesia?"
This whole ordeal upsets me a lot, more because I have dedicated one and a half years of my time and energy during my 2 years stay in Jakarta to help stop the whole problem, yet my close friends are still addicted to it. During those one and a half years, I have succeeded 'saving' other kids who were addicted to get out of it, but I couldn't save my own friends!!!! What have I missed? WHY?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Ibu Dewi Fortuna Anwar in Vienna
On June 30th, 2004 at about 20:30 CET, Ms. Dewi Fortuna Anwar, setau gue sih Juru Bicara Kepresidenan zamannya Habibie, gave a talk on the coming presidecial election in Wisma Dubes. I think she's here to attend the UN sidang - on what, I have no idea - presenting ASEAN. (wow!)
Now, considering the fact that my understanding on politics is below the zero level, I'll not waste my energy and wrack my brain to write about the contents of her talk. I'll just describe how hectic my day was preparing for this particular event, since this was my sole reason for existing at Wisma on that evening - organizing :D
Right, my day started quite OK actually. Didn't wake up late - for the first time this week! hehe. Got to the office OK, not early but not that late either :D I didn't have any pending matters on my desk cuz I've done them the day before - cuz Oom Damos was leaving for Indonesia for good on the same day - except for the laporan keuangan konsuler untuk bulan Juni, which I thought would be the only thing I'd be busying myself with that day and seeing Oom Damos off at the airport, I had nothing else to do.
Then suddenly... BAM!!! Came a very distressed Mas Taufik into my office and asked me to help him contact the people in the guest-list - that was about 8 hours before the event. This man's gotta be crazy! But, he is still in a way my atasan, so I helped him. I sat down with him and made the phone calls. By one-thirty I've contacted almost half of the people... I even made phone-calls on the way to the airport (and back to the office). When I got back to the office at about 16.15, I have called all the people and gotten mostly "confirmed". I was pretty pleased with myself and quite relieved, until...
My financial report!!! I had forgotten all about it!!! I still needed to type the whole thing and edit it! And I only had less than 2 hours to finish it and leave it on my boss' desk to have him sign it - before I had to fly from the office to Wisma Duta (which are only hundreds meters apart... hehe) And there I went again. Panicking while my fingers were flying over the keyboard and frantically typing. By 18.45 my printer was happily producing 30 or so pages of the report. That left me only 15 minutes to be at Wisma. Actually I was already 15 minutes late cuz I had to be there half an hour before it started as I had to be penerima tamu. So I flew to Wisma and in 5 minutes I was standing at the doors of Wisma, freshly made-up, and smiling, welcoming the guests... walaupun agak ngos-ngosan... :D
